Navy Captain Rene Yongque advised the Philippine Daily Inquirer by text message the boat was cruising for Bongao from Sampoerna inside Indonesian part of Borneo as soon as it capsized around 5 p. m. Tuesday.
He said they only learned with the incident when four boat passengers reached Bongao after swimming all night.
Yongque said a subsequent functioning launched on Wednesday evening triggered the rescue of eight more victims along with the recovery of the dead passengers.
