Active Video games Have Exercise-Like Effects in Children: Study.

Adolescents who play active game titles increase their heart rate, make use of more oxygen and expend much more energy, according to a tiny new study.

Low levels of physical activity are associated with obesity in children. Compared to video games that will youngsters can play while sitting around the couch, active video games encourage movement and may help children increase their physical activity levels, according to researchers Stephen Smallwood and colleagues at the University of Chester, in England.

Their study included 10 kids and eight girls, aged 11 in order to 15, who played two active game titles that use a webcam-style sensor unit and software technology to discover players' body movement during hands per hour.

The games, "Dance Central" as well as "Kinect Sports: Boxing, " enhanced the children's energy expenditure through 150 percent and 263 percentage, respectively, above resting values.
