E-commerce massive eBay on Friday unveiled a whole new logo to reflect the transforming nature of online marketplace internationally. The online shopping portal has received the same logo since the 1995 when it absolutely was first launched.
The new logo was unveiled by the company’s President Devin Wenig. “Our rested logo reflects the global online marketplace eBay is today along with symbolises a dynamic future, ” Wenig said inside a statement.
The US-listed company’s first logo was an unevenly-spaced jumble of both lower-case and capped characters, each overlapping one another. The revolutionary one, however, features linear along with evenly-spaced letters.
It reflects “a global online marketplace that has a cleaner, more contemporary along with consistent experience, with innovation that makes buying and selling easier and more enjoyable, ” this individual said.
eBay has retained some important elements of the previous logo, including the colour palette.
“Our vibrant eBay colours along with touching letters represent our linked and diverse eBay community — greater than 100 million active users along with 25 million sellers globally along with growing, ” he said.
The new look will begin to appear across eBay sites across the world from next quarter.
Founded with 1995, eBay is one of the notable success stories of the dot-com boom and is also now a multi-billion dollar organization with operations localised in numerous countries.
eBay’s logo revamp comes just a few weeks after technology giant Microsoft arrived on the scene with its new look soon after 25 years.
In the last one year, the Indian e-commerce space has grown tremendously with the mushrooming of e-retailers like Snapdeal, Fashionandyou along with Flipkart, among others.
eBay also said it's bullish on mobile commerce.
“Our mobile apps are downloaded 100 million times, and this year we expect over money 10 billion in volume transacted through mobile, ”
