Google Maps No iOS 6

06:18 |

Google Maps seems to have found its way onto iOS 6 with help coming from a hacker, though it's not quite ready for its public debut.

Self-proclaimed iOS hacker and engineer Ryan Petrich tweeted yesterday that he could coax Google Maps to develop iOS 6 "with a little trickery. " Though mum regarding his methods, he said that he could port the iOS 5. 1 version of Google's app to own on an iPhone 3GS that were updated to iOS 6. Petrich also included a shorter video clip showing Google Maps in action on Apple's new mobile OPERATING SYSTEM.

Before iOS users get as well excited, there are a several caveats. Retrich admitted that the port is at risk of crashes and that it can't yet be distributed on the public. And apparently, your mobile device must be jailbroken for the hack for you to even work.

Petrich also tweeted that he would not release a "bootlegged" copy since he wishes to play by the rules. He promised to include an installer if he's equipped resolve the distribution issues.

Apple carved out some trouble for itself a couple weeks ago when its new Maps app launched in iOS 6. Users soon discovered a rash of problems with the app, including missing or even lost cities, duplicated islands, mislabeled locations, and fuzzy images. The company specifically kicked out Google Maps from iOS for making way for its own Maps app.

iOS 6 users seeking an alternative to Apple's app employ a few choices. The simplest option is to open the Google Maps website in mobile Safari. Then click the Send button on the base toolbar and select the option to enhance Home Screen. A shortcut to Google Maps appears with your home screen, which you incorporate the use of as easily as the dedicated mobile app.
