The Verizon version of your iPhone 5, which went available Friday, comes with a technique and unexpected feature: it works on AT&T's network as well.
Confirming blog reports, the Associated Press found which a Verizon iPhone 5 accepts a AT&T "SIM card" -- a new chip that identifies a phone to a network. The phone can and then be active on AT&T's circle.
It's the first time Verizon iPhones have been able to access AT&T's circle without complicated hacking procedures. The feature gives Verizon customers the option to switch carriers rather compared to renewing an expired contract.
It's unclear perhaps the feature is intended and perhaps the phones will work with other carriers such as T-Mobile USA.
Verizon Wireless referred questions concerning the SIM card feature to The apple company, which did not respond.
