Fox launches streaming films with iTunes, Google.

The Digital HD project enables access to new releases before DVDs are issued, “attractive prices, ” cloud storage and availableness across multiple devices, News Corp. said inside a statement.

“Whether the plan involves watching Fox movies on connected HDTVs in your living room, or on your tablet or smartphone out and about, Digital HD offers up usefulness and convenience, ” the record said.

The company said more as compared to 600 Fox films will be made available to US customers from Amazon, CinemaNow, Yahoo and google Play, iTunes, PlayStation, Vudu, Xbox live Live and YouTube.

“With virtually 800 million broadband connected devices globally, and millions of persons accessing entertainment on those devices, we feel the medium’s period has come, ” said Robert Dunn, president worldwide of Twentieth Century Fox Watching movies.

“Digital HD redefines digital ownership in a fashion that presents consumers with a full selection of benefits in a coherent approach, and it allows them the opportunity to build digital movie collections that will literally be carried in the palms in their hands. ”

Fox plans to offer the service in more than 50 places, said Mary Daily, the unit’s fundamental marketing officer.

Among the first titles would be the sci-fi thriller Prometheus, selling for under $15, and arriving three weeks before Blu-ray, DVD and video-on-demand, the company said.
